The 135th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) was held in Guangzhou from 15 April to 5 May and came to a successful end. As a comprehensive international trade event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete commodities, the largest number of buyers from the widest sources, the best turnover effect and the best reputation in China, the Canton Fair has always been an important window and platform for China's foreign trade. With the theme of ‘serving high-quality development and promoting high-level opening’, the event attracted many buyers from 215 countries and regions around the world, with the number of pre-registered people reaching 149,000, an increase of 17.4 per cent over the previous session, and 288 head enterprises and industrial and commercial organisations confirming to participate in the event in groups, an increase of 21.5 per cent over the same period of the previous session, demonstrating a strong international influence.
